La Rose Pauillac is a name you can trust – the name of a famous wine made by a group of select small Pauillac winegrowers. La Rose Pauillac was created in 1933 by thirty vineyard owners who were highly motivated to work together to make a great Pauillac.
By the 1960s, almost all the small estates in Pauillac had joined this efficient cooperative with an international reputation.
After the intervening years, with their share of inheritance problems (and a certain amount of greed…), La Rose Pauillac is now the equivalent of a beautiful sixty-hectare estate, producing about 3,500 hectolitres of wine a year.
The reliable quality of its wines and the desire at every level to do the best possible job have contributed greatly to La Rose Pauillac's reputation.
The small vineyard plots are meticulously tended. Indeed, some of them are reminiscent of their owners' tidy gardens in the town centre.
In his seminal book on the wines of Pauillac, Bernard Ginestet mentions the excellent quality of the cooperative's wine.
The average vine density is 10,000 vines per hectare. This bears out the old saying that the less the distance between vine rows, the less the yield, and the more the wine is rich and concentrated.
Located in the centre of Pauillac, the cellars and sales office are housed in a former 19th century farm building.
Thanks to a respect for tradition, combined with a modern winemaking facility, the wines of La Rose Pauillac provide a great deal of pleasure at a reasonable price.
